Little Observations about our Anna
We thought we'd take a moment to note a few things about Anna that make us smile, laugh and just plain wonder...
1) Morning is Anna's favorite time of the day. She saves her biggest smiles for the early morning when her daddy comes in and picks her up. Anna is up and at 'em by about 6:30 am everday. For the rest of the day, she prefers to be constantly cuddled and/or perched with her head over our shoulder so she can see everything going on around her. It's wonderful to feel her soft baby skin all day, but the need for constant cuddling may be an issue when we have to take her to day care!
2) Anna does not like the sling. In fact, every time I put her in one, she fights and kicks and wrestles to the point of exhaustion. Then when I look down, to see if she's relaxing like the babies on the pictures of the sling package, she has these huge eyes as if she's waiting to launch a surprise attack.... pause for 3 seconds, the battle renews.
3) Anna has developed a reputation as a Baby Houdini. In keeping with the previous observation, she does not like to be swaddled. In fact, we'll bundle her up at night after she's fallen asleep in our arms and then creep away from the crib. From the other side of the room we'll watch her grunt and twist a couple of times and then PRESTO shoot her arms and legs out spread eagle. It's actually quite impressive.
4) Our dear girl's favorite thing in the world is traffic. Whenver she's fussy or restless, all we have to do is step out onto our porch and look out at the street. The instant she hears the hum of cars and trucks driving by Anna becomes quiet and content. Thank goodness we don't live on a cul de sac!
5) Anna has started flirting with this stuffed star that hangs from her activity mat. Seriously, she giggles and coos at it... if you detect a note of jealousy, you're correct. I wish I could entertain her as much as that dang star.
6) And, last but not least, Anna hates when we wash her face but LOVES when we put cream on it. Every morning I wash her face off (she grunts and twists) and then I put this baby butter heavy duty cream on her face because she has MAJOR dry skin (she smiles and relaxes). I always tell her how pretty she is while I'm putting the cream on - perhaps she just needs to be sweet talked?
As new parents we revel in every moment and every new observation. Granted, these are probably things that every parent goes through but cut us some slack... it's all still new and wonderous to us. All we know is how lucky, lucky, lucky we are to have her in our lives :-)
