RASPBERRIES

So this morning Anna decided to wake up at 4 am and talk to herself in her crib for almost an hour. This is only the second time this has happened since she stopped her nighttime feedings several months ago, and it seems to throw her whole morning schedule off, because she went back to sleep at 5 and then woke up at 7:15, ready to take on the world, (or at least get a bottle in her as fast as possible).

So, while I am holding her and making a bottle, I hear her make a noise I have never heard before, like the sound of blowing air through her lips like she is making a raspberry at me. I turn towards her and say "What was that?", and she just smiles back.

After filling the bottle, I decide to change her diaper before feeding her, and as I am laying her down on her changing table, I see her look up at me, purse her lips, and make the same raspberry sound she made in the kitchen, followed by a big smile. I make the sound back to her, and she makes it back at me. This goes on for about a minute or so: raspberry, followed by a big smile, followed by another raspberry, until I make the mistake of sticking my tongue out while I make the noise. This brings the game to a screeching halt, because I can tell by her face that she simply cannot figure out how I did that. Maybe that's the next step for Dad to teach . . . but only if she does it to her Mama.
