Snippets
Although it wasn't her first official haircut (see RATS entry :-), Anna had her first haircut by an actual professional last week. The hair was creeping into her eyes and over her ears - it was time. I took her to a cute little kiddie hair shop called Snippets over in Lincoln Park (oh so chic). They have a wonderful set-up. All the kids sit in little cars and hold on to the steering wheel while a stylist (is that the right word to use when talking about children's hair?) does the trimming.
They really know what suckers parents are for recorded "firsts." The salon provides a "first cut" package that includes a DVD of the haircut and the lock of hair in a small plastic box. It only costs five bucks extra? I'm in. Mike was really grateful that he was able to watch the hair cut that night when he got home from work.
Anna was entertained by the Disney DVD playing in front of her for quite a few minutes (a not-so-sly trick to keep the children focused), but then got a little antsy and tried to pick pocket the stylist, pulling her water spray bottle out of her pocket, along with her name tag. It was pretty hilarious! I wonder how often the stylist ends her day looking for all the stuff she's lost!
