Anna says the Darndest Things
Since this has effectively become my baby book (I'll just confess now that I am horrible about keeping up with my baby book, in fact I'm contemplating whether to even purchase one for the second baby) I am going to have to record some of the funnier Anna moments here. I can't say that they run in any particular chronological order because I just keep telling myself, I've got to write this down, I've got to write this down, and now many days/weeks later I'm finally putting pen to paper and getting these memories down.
But here goes...
A few weeks ago, I awoke to the sound of Anna talking to her dolls in her crib. She typically does this for short while and then starts yelling, "mama, mama, wake up! wake up!" until I finally, well, wake up and go get her.
But this morning she was taking her time and I guess I must have been particularly awake so I crept to her door to hear what she was saying. I could tell that she was standing up in her crib and really giving the dolls a serious talk. It started out with her telling them, "I walking, I walking, I walking." then "I marching, I marching, I marching." Then, out of nowhere she says very seriously, "Stay away from fire." Short pause and then again, she says it, "Stay away from fire."
What? I had to run back to bed in order to not laugh outloud and risk letting her know that I was there. I laughed so hard I was literally tearing up. Where did she learn this? And why was it important to communicate to her baby dolls? Do they play with fire often?
The best we can figure is that she got to watch the Jungle Book during one of our rides back from Missouri a few days before and there's this theme in there that some animals are scared of man's red fire. Now, why she took that away rather than big bears love little boys and vice versa, we'll never know. For me though, I just feel like this is one of those stories that I will continue to tell about Anna for the rest of her life.

Hilarious. I think she needs a Smoky the Bear stuffed animal now.
BTW, I have never owned any sort of baby book, thus, I have been blissfully guilt free for never having filled one out! I, too, view our blog as accomplishing the exact same result, only better - and with pictures!
