Finger Puppets

Sometimes I contemplate trying to stop reading so many blogs. One link always leads to another link and suddenly I've blown through more blogs than I ever contemplated while scarfing down my yogurt. They are wonderful and entertaining, but, man, they can suck up a lot of time if you let them. I may not watch TV much anymore, but I can sure waste away a lot of time reading about other mothers' perfect creative lives. (Only slightly tongue in cheek)

But then sometimes I read about little crafty projects that seem easy enough for a non-crafty type like me to attempt with Anna and I am reassured that there are so many good reasons for me to waste time on the internet.

After seeing a great little link to finger puppets on this blog, I decided to give it a try.

Not so bad for a lady who can barely draw a smiley face, eh?

Had to make them sooo tiny so they wouldn't fall off her fingers.

I'd love to report that she played with these all afternoon and thanked me profusely for being the best and most creative mother on earth. But... she basically was entertained for about 10 minutes and then moved on to something else. I tried to get her engaged in the actual creation of the puppets, but Anna isn't that into coloring these days and basically shoved them back my way and said, "you help me do it."

Anna's going through some sort of stage where she has learned that if I do it it will be done faster and "better" so she skips the attempt and just asks me color or draw. Very frustrating for all involved.

Perhaps Dad will have more interesting animal voices than Mom does and the shelf life of our puppets will extend a bit longer. Regardless, I like to think that maybe I'm instilling some sort of latent enjoyment for the arts (ha!) that will pop up later in life, vindicating all the times I pestered her to color.

Anyway, I kinda had fun!
