- Brooms. File this under the HUH? category. Abe loves brooms. He darts across the kitchen to get to my big green broom and then bangs the handle up and down or runs his hands through the bristles. If Anna tries to take it away (because, clearly, she has primary possession over household brooms), he will cry so hard that huge crocodile tears stream down his face. He just loves brooms. Recently, Anna ran back and forth from the living room to the dining room with her little toddler broom and Abe chased after her like it was the thrill of a lifetime.
- Stand in the place where you are. Seriously, Abe wants nothing to do with sitting, just standing, please. He pulls up on every possible surface, even the walls, testing our sprinting abilities. While he isn't doing much cruising from one piece of furniture to the next, he has started spontaneously standing in the middle of the room. Abe somehow lifts his entire torso up, wobbles like a weeble, then crouches down again and lands on his rear end.
- Color me bad. In an effort prompt Anna to start coloring and drawing more, I moved her little toddler table into the dining room from the downstairs. Abe finds this new piece of furniture to be extremely enticing, particularly the cup of crayons sitting upon it. He makes a beeline for the table, pulls himself up (mighty dangerous because it's so flimsy a sneeze could cause the thing to blow over) and then grabs at the crayons, banging on the table, attempting to chew on them, dumping them out. Fun, fun, fun.
- Doing the wave. Just recently, Abe started waving. I feel like we've been far less disciplined about doing hand motions with him than we were with Anna. Abe decided to save me one worry by going ahead and waving at us. He doesn't clap yet or do the "so big" thing (honestly, I've never been a "so big" person, I don't think I've ever made that motion to either of my children), but he waves. Good job, Abe. You will make a great parade float participant this summer!
- Splish, splash. I'm still doing Abe's bath in the baby tub, sitting on top of the sink (I'm trying not to throw my back out), but there's plenty of water there for Abe to enjoy. He loves splashing in the water, pouring the cup of water all over himself (this makes for some interesting spits and gags as he splashes himself in the face) and running his hands under the cool water when I turn on the faucet. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but maybe... maybe I've got a little water baby?

love the updates! (also loved the accidentally posted updates, which yes, I happened to catch - tee hee! perhaps an accurate reflection of where we are in life these days.)
please join us on the "so big!" bandwagon. Really, it's "so fun!"
or, you can go the route my sister did with Sam -- same motions, but on cue to "hip, hip hooray!" instead of "so big!" : )
