Where ya been?
I know that I've been a bit absent lately. Wish I had some amazing excuse about an onslaught of freelance work or a fabulous trip to an exotic location, but the sad fact is that I've just been suffering from blogger block. Can't think of anything interesting to write about, can't muster the energy at the end of the day, or can't seem to get any cool photos taken. Since I've been uploading a photo of the day, I actually feel like my energy is being pulled towards just capturing one shot and then I've got hardly anything left to give to the main blog.
I don't know about you guys, but I struggle with the logistics of getting two kids out the door with sippy cups, snack cups, sunscreen, sun hats, extra diapers AND a camera. Half the time I just abandon the camera and try to capture something else later that day. That's why all my photos tend to be in the house. I just can't carry all the crap. Then I feel like I don't have any photos to share so why bother posting. But that's really silly because I love reading photo-less posts so I need to get over it and just start writing more. And write, I will.
So... here we go.
The headline from this weekend is that I just purchased a new "mom" bag, which is really just an oversized purse, and I downsized the diaper bag to fit in there. We'll see how it goes. I purchased it for $25 at H&M so it's no big loss if it doesn''t work out. I tried to make it work with an existing purse, but it just wasn't big enough. I've been trying to purchase things that are either from resale shops or garage sales, but when you really need something you end up just going to a store and purchasing it. I am at peace with that. Maybe I'll even be able to throw the camera in there, too!
In other random news from my mind... I'll tell you what I am obsessed with lately... travel blogs. As in, families who are doing awesome travel adventures like year-long world trip stuff. It is amazing to me that people do this. I guess so many folks work remotely these days that they can actually work from around the world. Living abroad has always been a dream of mine. I can't imagine how it would be possible, but reading these blogs lets me get into a glimpse into what that might be like.
My faves right now are SoulTravelers and WanderMom. What about you? If money were no object... where would you go?

1) Oh crap. Did you really write that at 4 a.m.?
2) I LOVE reading your writing, so feel free to give us more photo-less posts anytime.
3) I'm uber impressed with your dedication to the other blog and can see how that would make attending to this one hard.
4) It's always okay to take a bloggity break when you're in a rut. My problem lately is that I've got so much stuff I want to share and not enough time to do it. (Probably more than anyone really cares to see from me!)
5) I have an experiment idea for you: 30 days of blogging on this blog, except that you treat it only as a 1 sentence journal. 1 sentence summing up your day. Could be fun!
6) World travel. Hmmm... There are so many places I'd love to visit. If you made me pick right now I'd head to my friends' farm in Brazil.
7) World travel with the entire family. I have mixed feelings about this. See posts on Ohdeedoh and on Jora (Domestic Reflections0 and sometimes think that you might as well trek to Italy or Egypt or whereever and bring junior along, because it all seems to work out, but then more often think, I just can't justify spending the effort and $ it would take to get there, only to have a toddler who was most entertained by simply running around a plaza (as they would at home), who won't remember anything of it, and who (it can be argued) would take away from my own ability to see the place more fully. But then I swing back to the "oh, don't be a party pooper" attitude and think going with a toddler still probably beats never going at all. So there you go.
Longest. Comment. Ever.
I'd love to do one of those around the world trips! A young couple my family knows was able to do that for a whole year...they saw it all! Amazing. But right now, my traveling day-dreams are often focused on the Amalfi Coast, South Africa, or really any beach (Seaside, Hawaii, and Cabo seem to be frequently on the mind).
Oh, and I’m going to have to check out those 2 blogs that you mentioned…not that I need 2 more blogs to read or anything more to fuel my traveling daydreaming!
I love reading your writing and I am one of Everyday Snapshot's biggest fans. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm so impressed by how you all have kept it up!
No kiddos to tag along with me, but I would love to travel more. Tahiti has been on the brain lately and of course, Brazil.
