Mother's Day

I don't know where time goes these days, but it seems to disappear through the cracks in our windows. Everytime I look up, it's several days past my self-assigned goal for completing something.

Like this picture. I meant to get it up on Monday, but now it is Wednesday. Wednesday. Oh well.

Our Mother's Day tradition continued again with a trip into Chicago to have breakfast at Ann Sather. Walking down the city street in Southport made me a bit nostalgic for city living. Downers Grove has really grown on us and I'm glad we made the move, but I do miss the city, the people watching, the all around urban atmosphere. It was nice to get back there for the day.

The kids did surprisingly well during breakfast. Abe is such a wild card lately. One day he'll be an angel and sit through a meal and the next he will be climbing the walls and demanding to run around. Thankfully, he sat happily and snarfed down pancakes and eggs and a few bites of cinnamon roll. And we even managed to capture our annual photo!

Mother's Day 2011

Next we headed to a church down in the loop that we'd been curious about for awhile. Our old pastor started a new church plant that meets in a small auditorium in a Jewish cultural center on Michigan Avenue. Sooo different than our traditional churches. Abe and Anna both did really well in the nursery and Sunday School atmostpheres so Mike and I actually got to sit and enjoy the sermon. It was nice to hear our old pastor again and catch up with him after the service!

Then, of course, it was nap time so we headed back out to the burbs and spent the rest of the day working in the yard and grilling dinner. A very relaxing afternoon. What can I say... I'm lucky to be the mom of these two and the wife of a great guy. They make each day pretty awesome.

Love the photo! You look great. And so glad you made the annual visit to Ann Sather's. I read this every year with some envy for those sweet rolls. Mmmmm. Happy (belated) Mother's Day to one of my favorite mommas.

Happy belated Mother's Day! Your kids (and that husband of yours) are lucky to have you!

Ann Sathers cinnamon rolls sound delish. I wonder if there's any way for us to copy you and safely go there for our Mother's Day (observed) celebration this Sunday? Hmmmm... (Are they covered in pecans?)

Kate, no nuts in the cinnamon rolls!
