My what a summer can do.
Anna decorated her school tote bag entirely by herself this year. Despite my offer to help her sew something with fabric on one of the sides, she preferred to paint on one side and then draw on the other. Even wrote her name ALL BY HERSELF along the bottom.
My what a summer can do.
This is Bugs Bunny she told me. Funny, considering that she's never seen Looney Tunes before. However, Mike informed me that she saw a portion of a Bugs Bunny movie at his parents' house this weekend so I guess we'll be seeing and hearing a lot about these characters in the coming weeks.
Anna didn't seem nervous at all. In fact, she seemed a little frustrated that it was taking so long to get started. She got out her own clothes this morning. Found her bag and put on her new shoes and that was that. Mom... can we go now?
She patiently waited for everyone else to arrive and the doors to open and straight in she walked. Apparently, the monumental significance of another year's passage is not so monumental to a girl who wants to play with the new toy kitchen.
After class I picked her up and she was somber. Did you have fun? Yeah, it was great. Did you have snack? Yeah, crackers. Did you have circle time? Well, I just don't know what they called that. Did you like it???? Yeah. I did. A lot.
Details, girl, can't I get the details?
Mike will help coax some of it out of her tonight and bits will randomly pop up in conversation later. But I think we're off to a good start.
Happy first day to all my fellow preschool moms and kids. May we all be blessed with a smooth transition!
