Operation: Freezer Burn

That's right. Operation Freezer Burn started yesterday. We are going to eat from our freezer or cabinets ONLY. For about a week.

Just like I declared war (it's an ongoing war) on clutter in my closet, I've declared war on all this crazy excess food we have in our freezer and deep freeze. I hope to get to the bottom of these questions:

  • Why do I have four loaves of bread in my freezer? Including a gluten-free loaf? And bags of gluten-free pasta? Just what is my former self trying to tell my future self?
  • Can I defend my purchase of TWO boxes of puff pastry two years ago? (No. The answer is no.)
  • Why did Mike purchase a giant case of baked beans?
  • Capers? What was I going to make with capers?

So we are eating from the freezer for one week. NO MATTER HOW WEIRD IT GETS.

Baked beans with capers, anyone?

Oh man....sometimes I lament the fact that we don't have more than a typical fridge/freezer. There's never enough ROOM! But then I think of what I would do if I did have a deep freezer and this sounds a lot like me. Extra storage for shit I don't use!! So bravo for digging out of the uselessness and making some meals. And FYI, if you like capers, I put them in pasta sauce with olives or sometimes added to tuna salad. GO CRAZY!

How's it going?

we do a lot of eating from our freezer - as long as you remember to label as you freeze it isn't too bad!

Would you like to whip something up with the tube of polenta in our pantry (that Waylon threw in the cart at TJ's) or perhaps the random baggies of frozen breastmilk that I have some kind of psychological issue with throwing away? Good luck!

LOL at Kate :) This is a great idea. Good luck! And silly curious question...how do you prevent freezer burn? Do you have one of those food sealer thingies?
