Despite having finally recovered from a stomach virus, we've had a lot of sleepless nights these past two weeks. We're blaming the topsy turvy sleep patterns on teething. I've never been so anxious to see pearly whites.
Anna's first two teeth came in just fine. There was lots of slobbering and chewing, but, in general, she handled it well - no fevers, no pain, just a lot of drool. Oh how easy we had it. This current phase of teething (our guess is the top front teeth) is wreaking havoc. Anna is waking up randomly in the middle of the night, wanting to eat, chew, discuss political affairs, you name it. She is up and we better join her quickly. Needless to say, we're all exhausted. Plus, she's drooling and biting everything and, I might add, she's a bit testier than she used to be. I don't blame her. Poor thing. We really thought her teeth would be cutting through by now, but, alas, they're holding out for an engraved invitation.
This weekend, we couldn't get Anna down for an afternoon nap (napping was a major hurdle we worked hard to overcome and one I'm not eager to let slip again) and after three separate attempts and a lot of crying, I finally put Anna in a sling and rocked her for an hour until she fell asleep. Then I sat for another hour in the rocker, trying to stay still and wishing I was someone who could nap sitting up. Oh how I needed that nap, but I can't seem to sleep anywhere but in a proper bed so it was not meant to be. Thankfully she stayed down for an hour and was in a better mood after she woke up. Sometimes you just need to be held for awhile.
Think positive thoughts this week, we're hoping to see teeth by this weekend.

You sure do have a lot of patience. That is what makes you an amazing mother:-) Just tell Anna aunt Meagan said to let you guys get some sleep. Miss you guys and can't wait to see you again!!
These top teeth are brutal, aren't they? Lila woke up FIVE times last night. FIVE times. That's just wrong.
I hope we all get better sleep soon.
It's all just a few little love bumps. (I know...that's easy for a grandpa to say). Love her dearly.
