Birthday Recap

Anna's actual birthday last Wednesday was pretty low key. Because I'm doing some freelance work right now, along with some other commitments, it turns out that Wednesday is our busiest day of the week. Therefore, our "celebration" was blueberry muffins (Anna's first!) and an attempt to have her wear a little paper crown. The crown lasted all of about 5 seconds. But, the muffins were a big hit!!

Anna had a family birthday party this weekend in St. Louis. Mike's family and my mom gathered to see Anna's latest trick (walking!) and watch her munch on her first piece of chocolate cake. The party was a lot of fun. Anna didn't know what to make of the cake though.
We watched Anna delicately touch the icing for a couple of minutes. Then Mike sort of motioned to put her whole hand in the cake, which prompted her to push a bit more into the cake. Mike finally had to place some cake in her mouth to demonstrate that this crazy concoction was actually food. After she got a taste of the cake (yum, yum), Anna started to grab at it a bit more. However, she didn't know what to make of the icing and started rubbing her hands together like she was putting on lotion. Her hands were COVERED! in icing and she just kept kneading it in her hands. It was hilarious!

Many many thanks to Joyce (Mike's mom) for throwing a great party :-)
