Catch up

We haven't posted in a few days and it seemed appropriate that we catch you up on Anna's latest activities. Boy, is she full of energy these days. Our little pumpkin is all about movement. Now that it's finally starting to warm up, we're spending more time outdoors. Thank goodness. This kid needs to burn some energy off and walking around and around the condo doesn't always cut it. Anna will walk over to the door and point, as if to say "my stroller is right there, guys... can we please go already?" And if you ask her if she wants to go outside, you'll get a "yeah" response faster than you can blink. For having so few words, it's clear that she wants to be outside whenever humanly possible.

When we leave our home, it's off to the park for big fun on the swings and steps (we don't have those at our place so she has to get her climbing kicks at the park).

Enjoying the grass with friend Byron...
Really enjoying the dirt...

Pull up a seat... tell me about your day...

We're lucky we got those pictures at the park. It takes some serious distraction to snap any pics because Anna has figured out how the camera works and heads straight for your hands as soon as you pull it out. She wants to see the screen - not pose for pictures. So most of our photos now look like this:

But, when we're lucky, we can capture her enjoying a good session of school bus/truck watching from the front window. This continues to be a major source of enjoyment. She waves fast and furiously when either passes in front of our building.

And, last but not least, we recently got a chance to catch up with our good friends Amy and Hugh from Kansas City. I heart Amy (she and I used to work together) and miss seeing her on a daily basis so terribly. It was so nice for her to finally meet Anna.

Anna's vocabulary is starting to expand now, which is a ton of fun. Her favorite words are: yeah, duck, down (as in get me down from the high chair), ball, baby, bath, and, as of this week, THIS. She loves to point and say THIS! THIS! THIS! Yes, Anna, this is a cup, this is a book, this is your sweater. THIS! THIS! THIS! Is a very popular game. Not as popular as reading though, Anna still wants to read all day long and would probably do that if you didn't remind her that the outside exists. It's difficult to pull that girl away from her books, which is wonderful and amazing and I have high hopes that she'll be a great reader, but it's also forced me to realize I have a slight issue with turning books back into the library on time. Policeman Small cost me 30 cents last week and I think Madeline and Curious George are skating awfully close to a deadline too.
The Logan Square librarian and I are going to be on a first name basis by the time this summer is over.

We hope everyone has a safe weekend. We look forward to spending some quality time with the Thurman clan and watching Anna do a little splashing in the pool.
Have a great Memorial Day!
