Anna is obsessed - OBSESSED - with blueberries. She loves them, lurves them, L-O-V-E-loves them. Why do we share this with you? Because the obsession is so strong, we've started spelling the word rather than say it aloud and risk upsetting the poor girl and sending her over to her high chair repeatedly in hopes that there are blueberries on her tray.
It started about two weeks ago when Mike purchased a pint of blackberries and a pint of blueberries at the farmers' market in our neighborhood. I made a large batch of blueberry pancakes the next morning and we saved the leftover blueberries to munch on. Anna got a blueberry pancake and gobbled it up so fast it shocked us and then she asked for mah, mah, mah immediately. Cool, we thought, the kid likes pancakes and we gave her a second one and some loose berries. I had made extra so we kept giving her a pancake all last week for breakfast.
She was so excited by the taste of blueberries that she started looking in the refrigerator every time I opened it in hopes of finding the container of blueberries. When she would spot them, she would start crying - seriously sobbing, choking crying - if I didn't give her some immediately. And, it's still happening. If we say the word, she starts repeating it, "buh, buh, buh," and stomps her feet if we don't give them to her. I mean, we're seriously breaking her heart by preventing her from devouring blueberries all day long.
So this past weekend we bought three pints of blueberries and froze two of them. Smart thinking, eh? Save them and spread them out over the coming weeks. Yeah, we've already been discovered. Yesterday I opened up the freezer to pull something out and Anna reached in there and grabbed the bag of frozen blueberries - which I might add don't even really look like blueberries, they look more like a big block of dark somethings, and held them up with a look of victory and started shouting "buh, buh, buh." Oh she's good. She's very, very good.
Bottom line: B-L-U-E-B-E-R-R-I-E-S. Get used to spelling it when you enter our front door.

She is such a smart little cookie. No matter what you guys do I think she'll outsmart you. She looks adorable in pigtails. I can't wait to see everyone soon.
Love, Aunt Pam
