Splish, Splash

We've been taking a toddler swim class for the past few weeks now and Anna is having a blast. My friend Kate and her daughter Georgia are also in the class, which makes it all the more fun for Anna. She loves talking about Georgia and really looks forward to seeing her on Friday mornings. In fact, we have to put on her swimsuit first thing in the morning and keep it on until class because Anna is so excited to get to the pool.

I'll link to Kate's post about how the class itself is going. It's been a little hilarious because the class is a bit more advanced than we thought it was going to be. Well, at least the first class was advanced. The very first thing the teacher did was have the kids sit on the edge and splash their feet in the water. Perfect. The second thing the teacher did was have the kids JUMP INTO THE POOL to us. Um... did I miss something? Like maybe a million other steps?

All subsequent classes have just been a repeat of the first class. Basically, it's a lot of kicking, holding on to a kickboard, and just getting generally comfortable in the water. Anna still doesn't seem too interested in putting her face in the water (unlike Georgia who was quite possibly a fish in a former life :-) and clings to me pretty tightly while we're in the pool. However, she looks forward to it and talks a lot about swimming these days, even "practicing" at home by waving her arms around while she jumps around the room.

The trickiest part of this class is the drying off and getting into clothes afterward. All the moms grit their teeth as we wrangle off wet swim suits and haphazardly slap on diapers while we also try to get ourselves into dry clothes. I'm so big and pregnant now that it truly feels like a workout. In fact, I'm considering this to be part of "exercise" routine these days. (Note to self, gotta get one of those)

Enjoy the pics!

Look out! Here comes Anna!!

Georgia arrives, ready for action!

What are we waiting for??
