Today is the Day (by Mike)

After months of waiting, at 2:15 today we will finally add the new baby to our happy family!

It's been a long week for Maggie, as the baby seems huge, is sitting way out in front and very active. At her doctor's appointment last week, she was 1 cm dilated, but not effaced. This was disappointing, as we were hoping to be further along so that Maggie would get to try a VBAC. Maggie talked to her doctor at that appointment, and while we originally had a back-up c-section date of the 26th, she made the executive decision to move up the back-up date to today since we have family in town starting yesterday to help with Anna, and we don't want to lose that help. However, we still hoped that labor would start and Maggie could try the VBAC.

Unfortunately, at this week's appointment, Maggie had not progressed at all - her doctor said there was little difference, and still no effacement. So, fast forward to today, and not a single contraction or sign of labor. So, C-section, here we come!

We are little sad that this is our last morning alone with Anna, as we have gotten used to our time alone with her, and have settled into a nice routine of wake-up, play, snack, play, eat lunch, nap, snack, play, and dinner. We've tried to get her ready as best as we can for the new addition, and we hope that she deals with it well, but I am afraid that she may not handle sharing Maggie's attention as well as we expect. I guess we'll start to see tomorrow, as I plan to take her and Maggie's Aunt Gaye to meet the new baby then.

I'll try to post the first pictures later on tonight, but in the interim, pray that all goes well today.

I'm thinking about you guys today! I'm sure it will all go well and although it may take some transition time, Anna will be a wonderful big sister! I cannot wait to hear if it's a boy or a girl and to see the pictures. Best of luck!
Hugs and kisses,
Jessica
