Kewpie Generation

After about ten attempts to get Anna to hold the Kewpie doll up so we could take a picture with it, I finally just settled for this. Somehow, she couldn't wrap her mind around what "holding it up for the camera" meant.

I actually had a lot of laughs while trying to take this.

And for those of you who do not understand the historical, cultural and generational significance of this picture, I had the single most awesomest high school mascot EVER. And I'm raising another Kewpie girl, even if it's just in spirit.

Post script: So I was really impressed by how gently Anna had been treating this little ceramic Kewpie for the last few weeks. And then today, of course, our luck ran out and she dropped it on the floor and one of the little feet chipped off. How do I know this? She brought it to me, saying, "mama, we need to cut his toe nails..."

Kewp-Dawg! Just kidding. I think you all should move back to Columbia in time for high school so she can go to Hickman!
