The snow has been a beautiful reminder that Christmas is just around the corner. There's just something wonderful about seeing fresh clean snow in the backyard, resting on the tree branches and covering the railings of the back porch. One of the great things about our new house is that there's lots of green space so you can really see how gorgeous the snow can be. (I like to pretend I'm in New England because this is what I imagine it might look like...)
Although we've seriously curtailed our outside activities, we did catch one nice snow break while Abe was napping last week. I bundled Anna up in her snow pants and coat and we built miniature snow men in the backyard. She insisted that we also build miniature snow animals and so various clumps and blobs of white snow were molded together to become a fox, a penguin and I think a cow. It got a little confusing there for awhile.
Poor girl cried and cried when I told her she had to come inside. That's the trick with this weather, there are very few days where the temperature really allows extended outside time. That's sooo hard for a little one to understand because the snow is so pretty and you just want to run out and immerse yourself in it. Then mean old mom tells you that you gotta head inside. Even the promise of hot chocolate didn't ease her suffering that day.
