I love your new blogging duties! I have two thoughts regarding your 1st try to observe the Sabbath...

1) I've heard of families who have a mini service at home on Sundays when they can't go to their church. Doesn't have to be real formal or long. Listen/sing along to a few worship songs, or just sing some kiddie ones like Jesus Loves Me. Read a children's bible story. Say a prayer together. Etc... On that note, a lot of families in my church are loving "The Jesus Storybook Bible". I also got one for my and B&B seem to be liking reading it to them as well. Anna may still be a bit young for it, but she's never too young to start hearing those stories.

2) I am not good at observing the Sabbath. At all. But, when I think of the Sabbath (or Lent, for that matter), I think of replacing those things that you're not doing or giving up, with some extra time spent in the scripture or praying. Maybe you and Mike could trade off an hour or so each Sunday to get some extra God time individually...head to a coffee shop with your Bible or just go in another room and shut the door. Drawing nearer to God = Him drawing nearer to you. Maybe you'll feel more of what you're hoping/expecting during this lenten time??

Read your post. Very nice. Of course, I have to admit that after reading it I did feel a little bad, which was of course not your intent. Why, you ask? Well, b/c as you know, G was super-sick this Sunday, and June was not 100% either. We did not at ALL have a "this is a blessing in disguise" type of attitude about it, appreciating our slower pace and family together-ness time. Instead we were huddled together hugging on to each other at the end of the day (when the girls were finally in bed for the evening), saying to ourselves, "We made it! Thank God that day is over!"
I don't know...it was just a really rough one I guess.
Kudos to you for finding the positive and being introspective about your sick day at home.

Oh, I also have to ignore the part about what's the point of going to worship if we can't go as a family, otherwise I might never get to go! ; )
