It's time for another round of ten things Anna is doing these days...
- Do you like squash? Anna loves to climb up on our laps, get real close to our faces and then say "Do you like squash?" while she takes her hand and squashes our lips with her hands. It's hard not to bust out laughing. Neither Mike nor I taught Anna this, though we both thought the other one did. It's so funny to us that she dreamed this up. Man, that girl...
- Watch your shoes. Lately, it's dangerous to put your shoes on. You never know what she's going to have stuffed in there. Little people, plastic dishes, go fish cards. We have to shake all those items out before we can lace up.
- Let's have a dance party! The local library allows us to check out CDs and there is a vast array of kids music (Sesame Street, Susie Berkner, lots of good stuff). As a result, Anna's got a lot of music in rotation. She gets sooo excited about her kids music (that's what it is called) and she'll call out, "let's have a dance party!" and RUN into the living room. You better be right there also, ready to bust a move.
- Whispering in my ear. Now this is one of those things that has been fun watching Anna discover. Essentially, it consists of me whispering something in her ear - anything. And then she laughs out loud because it tickles, of course, and then she whispers something random back in my ear. And, truly, it's all random. I'll whisper cereal and she'll whisper yogurt. I'll whisper soccer ball and she'll whisper baseball. It's nonsense, but she BEGS for me to do it again. So we go back and forth, whispering in each others ear, laughing hysterically.
- Pieces, pieces, everywhere. What is it with pieces? She becomes transfixed with anything that has a million pieces. Go Fish cards, popsicle sticks, markers. Everything gets tossed around and spread out over the entire first floor. I swear this stuff breeds.
- Camp out. IKEA, you had us at tent. Seriously, we bought a small red tent there last year and it's pretty much the best thing ever. Anna's constantly camps out in the living room. She'll ask me to tuck her into her sleeping bag (that would be her pillow and comforter) and then she begs for me to come in with Abe. So we're all packed in there like sardines, Abe looking more confused than ever. Anna demands that I lay down next to her with my head on the pillow, too. I'm not gonna lie. This is not my favorite game.
- Carnivore. There's a little PBS show called Dinosaur Train. Anna LUVs this show and one of the many things that she's picked up from this show is that she is a CARNIVORE. Cuz she eats meat, which she recently demonstrated by swallowing half a bag of lunch meat while singing the Dinosaur Train song.
- Stealing fruit from the bowl. If you eat a pear at our house, might want to check it first for little bite marks. She's sneaky.
- Popsicle sticks. I've never seen a child take so much enjoyment from such an odd toy. But, the little sack of popsicle sticks that I've kept around for craft projects is an enduring friend. They are people, microphones, forks, tongue depressors... you name it.
- Chocolate sandwiches. She makes them for daddy (pretend ones, that is) and it always makes his stomach feel better and gives him much more energy. Not a bad idea actually.
