The Big 3-4

Yesterday we celebrated Mike's 34th birthday. I just love being married to a much older man.* His wisdom, his insight, all of the qualities that come with age and life experience.

Like a fine wine, he is. My man. My older man.

And how did we celebrate? With cake, of course! And frozen pizza, cuz mama can't make a cake from scratch and handle dinner, too. This year Mike requested a jell-0 cake. Do you remember those? You poke the holes in the cake and then pour in the sweet strawberry jello-o mixture. A novelty cake that made the rounds on the church potluck dinner circuit (side note: my idea of a perfect meal is a church potluck), this is one of Mike's favorite cakes and so I couldn't refuse the man his birthday wish.

We sang happy birthday, blew out some candles and ate giant pieces of cake. Yummmy.

Anna enjoyed the brief festivities, but Abe was already in bed by the time Mike got homed. Poor little guy will have to relive this one through pictures.

I don't mean to brag, but the cake was good. Damn good. Who knew it was so easy to make whipped cream? We will be eating it all week.

*I will turn 34 in approximately four weeks. Hee hee.

No time for cooking dinner? You should've served the cake alongside his other childhood favorites -- sugar bread and a glass of coke! : )

Happy Birthday, Mike!

P.S. I have never seen/eaten a jello cake...very intriguing. I guess those presby potlucks weren't nearly as grand as the methodists' or something...
