Yes, this morning I managed to create something I'd been contemplating for quite awhile... PANTS!
I've seen a couple tutorials on making pants from an old shirt and it seemed like something I could manage, though I ended up winging it and not even checking out the online instructions. It took about an hour and a half, which I managed to snag while Abe took his morning nap and Anna watched videos. So nice to have a bit of quiet time.
They turned out alright structurally, but I misjudged the sizing and they're a bit small. I got him in the pants today, but I won't guarantee they'll fit next month. However, it was so easy that I am excited to find some men's shirts at garage sales and do it again. They're very light and comfortable, essentially just pajama pants, but made out of a dress shirt-type cotton fabric.
If I can find some girls undershirts, I may do a few pairs for Anna also for her summer jammies.

ING!
Having decided that most crafty/sewing activities are a hobby that I just cannot even begin to get into at this point in life, I continue to be BLOWN AWAY by the things you people (my friends, that is) are able to create. Love it.
Cute. Green. Thrifty. What's not to love?!
p.s. can you tell that I check your blog like 12 times a day? : )
sometimes I even amaze myself with my avoidance/procrastination tactics.
Okay, I have to admit that when I started reading this post, I was waiting for disaster to strike! Maggie’s making PANTS?? And out of a shirt no less? I just couldn’t picture it. But, you actually pulled it off! Want to sew me some window treatments and a cushion next??
susan, I could actually sew you some window treatments, if you want!
I am so sorry that I never knew this if it's correct, but does Abe have red hair!?
And yes, I am truly amazed by the sewing skills!
Well done, my friend, well done!
