Remember our trip to the pumpkin farm? Well, despite the squirrels best attempts to devour our loot, we managed to still carve a few of them. This year we took a page from Martha Stewart and tackled a cityscape and some traditional jack-o-lanterns.
Before:
During:
Anna assists in the critical "scoop out the junk" phase.
Dad tackles the most difficult pumpkin in the bunch.
After:
I drew the building outlines on two pumpkins with a sharpie, but then Mike had the brilliant idea to use some leftover black paint from the front porch railing touch up he tackled this summer. Martha Stewart's version was, of course, a bit more professional looking, but I was pretty proud of how it turned out!
This year I handled all the carving myself while Mike mulched the leaves in the yard. It was a lot of fun! Anna got into and we managed to get almost everything carved during Abe's morning nap. That alone was a major score.
Spooky jack-0-lanterns make their deput.... and a city skyline glimmers in the dark.
