Abe's hair wasn't exactly long, but it was getting rather scraggly. So after some back and forth discussion, we determined that Abe was in need of a good clean up and I booked haircuts for both kids. Abe didn't have the rat tail situation that Anna suffered, but it was getting very fuzzy and weird and sticking out at all the wrong places. Unkempt. That's how I'd describe it. Unkempt.
Before shots:
Her hair is THIS long.
See... his is just kinda weird and scraggly.
Anna did so well during her first haircut I really thought Abe would do alright also. I mean this place is painted like an aquarium, it has TVs that constantly stream Dora and other annoying cartoons, and it's filled with other children.
What could go wrong?
They even let him sit in his own personal taxi cab. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
But, apparently, not even a yellow hollowed-out taxi could distract him. Lips began to quiver, shoulders began to tighten and in less than a minute, Abe started sobbing and grasping for Mike.
The little blue cape that the stylist put on him was like an immediate signal that something very wrong and very scary was happening. Despite the adorable puppy dogs covering it, Abe tried to rip it off his body and started wailing.
Ahem... okay, no more cape. Who needs a cape? Seriously, capes are for babies.
So we abandoned conventional methods and decided that Abe would sit on Mike's lap. No cape. Facing backwards. Standing up.
Oy.
Ah... that's better.
Poor thing. Despite the sheer terror and complete unhappiness we forced him to endure for approximately 15 minutes, he did end up with a nice tidy little hair cut. And the stylist was completely patient and sweet. You'd think she always cut her clients' hair while they stood on their father's legs. As much as I dread paying for pricey hair cuts for children (Anna usually goes to great clips - and that's only because I am not daring enough to do it myself because of her weird cowlicks), I am very glad I sprang for the schmancy one today. Any other stylist might have abandoned ship.
And just look at that handsome boy... could he be any cuter?
Meanwhile, Anna handled it like a champ. TV? DORA? Just point her to the seat.
Very glad that we don't have to do that on a weekly basis. And, yes, I'm going to admit right now that I am the poor sucker who paid an extra five bucks for the dvd of his first hair cut and the souvenir bag of hair. And then promptly forgot it at the salon. So I'll have to make another trip the aquarium sometime this week.
Cut me some slack. My babies are growing up.

everyone looks great! I think Georgia may need a chop soon, but I'm leaving June's hockey hair alone for the moment. : )
p.s. saw the menu -- I made that butternut squash pasta last week and it was yummy!
