Have I mentioned that Abe is a really bossy backseat driver?
It started a couple of weeks ago. As I was pulling out into the street, he started saying, "go dat way, go dat way." I looked back at him in the rear view mirror and, sure enough, he's pointing the opposite way. So I explained that we were heading THIS way.
"Nooooo.... DAT WAY."
This way. DAT way. THIS way. DAT WAY. DAT WAY!!!!!
And so on and so forth, until I'm essentially using any and all distraction techniques at my disposal. Do you see any garbage trucks? Is the train coming?
And now Abe has taken it upon himself to direct nearly every trip. I don't know where he thinks he's going, but it must be fabulous because Abe is ADAMENT that we make a u-turn and head there ASAP.
"You go dat way, rite now, you go dere."
No, Abe, our house is this way.
"No, no, you not 'posed to do dat. You go dat way."
Okay, McBossy Pants. Enough.
And then there is the matter of the turn signal. Abe is under the impression that the turn signal is what turns the car a certain way. So he's started saying, "You turn dat thing on and go dat way."
It's funny until it's not anymore and you start feeling the need to defend yourself to a two-year-old who can't even successfully navigate a tricycle.
So just for the record, I KNOW how to get us home, alright?
At least most days I do.

ahh..so much of toddlerhood is "funny until it's not anymore". well put.
you totally need to agree to his directions sometime (when you're not in a hurry to get somewhere) and see where he takes you!
I was going to say the same thing as Kate! See if he really knows where he is going. I think kids pick up on where they are and how to get around pretty quickly. He might just take you to his favorite place.
Hilarious! And is that a little pearl snap shirt?! Too cute!
Oh my gosh, Maggie. It's been so long since I've seen Abe. He's gotten so big and, as always, he's ADORABLE! And, yes, don't you love those little backseat drivers? E is always telling me where to turn. Evidently I'm constantly going the wrong way.
Men! I guess some traits are inherent.
