Pictures!!
Yesterday was our 20 week ultrasound... in a word - AMAZING. We couldn't believe how much we could see of the baby. Legs, arms, feet, a hand waving at us. It was so cool. Most of the photos of 20 week ultrasounds we'd seen prior to our appointment were not very intelligible. But, ours turned out great. And the technician didn't have another patient right after us so she was able to take her time and really walk us through what we were seeing. I think the cutest photos were of the baby's legs stretched out and then the next photo, which shows the bottom of the baby's feet! Mike's favorite though is the one where the hand is so distinct, as if the baby is trying to give us a high five. Granted we're totally biased, but we think they're incredible.
We're not savvy enough to own a scanner so we haven't figured out how to publish the pics to the blog yet. However, take our word, they are great.
The doctor said everything looked normal and my weight is fine and everything seems to be progressing right on track. This is always reassuring to hear because you just never know if you're having a normal experience or an abnormal one and you simply don't know the difference.
We still don't know the sex of the baby, but we had her put the answer in an envelope so that we can open it up at some point. Now, the biggest task is just keeping Mike from steaming the envelope open.
This was the best appointment by far and we were on cloud 9 all day. The only bummer part is that we learned that this was the last time we'd have an ultrasound. The next time we see the little one will be when we're in the delivery room, assuming everything goes as planned. For some reason, we had assumed that we'd get to see another ultrasound beforehand but, again, what do we know!
So that's our report. Hope this finds all of you well! And, if you happen to run into me or Mike, we can show you the ultrasound pics ourselves because we don't seem to be able to put them down. Shameless, I know, but we don't care. It's exciting!
