The Pumpkin Festival

This weekend, we took Anna to her first pumpkin festival in St. Anne, Illinois. I hatched my plan to take her to a pumpkin fest a couple of weeks ago, partly because I'm so excited for fall (not winter - just fall) and partly because it just seems like such a family thing to do. I had amazing visions of adorable Anna among the pumpkins.

This particular festival was recommended to me by my co-worker, Nick, who had attended the festival as a kid and remembered it being great. Nick is our resident country boy. All I had to do was walk into his office and he immediately knew the best pumpkin fest in Illinois. Every office needs a country boy.

Nick didn't disappoint. The festival was great! We watched an exciting(?) parade, the type you can only find in a small town. It was filled with high school bands and antique tractors, but there were also some funny little floats. Literally, a family entered it and just put their two little boys in a small decorated toy car. Hmmm... maybe we'll enter Anna next year.

Anna watched with amazement, sidetracked only by her desire to suck on her toes (through her socks no less). This is her most recent obsession. We tried in vain to get the perfect picture of our little pumpkin among the real pumpkins. But, we didn't capture that one perfect shot, unfortunately, so here are our attempts.

Mark your calendars because I've decided that next year we'll be attending the Pumpkin Festival in Morton, Illinois. I learned about it on my friend Cara's blog and I'm super excited for it. It's the same place they make Libby's pumpkin pie filling. How fun is that??

Enjoy the photos.
